Re: Should People Be Allowed to Own Guns?

May 4th, 2013, 3:48 pm

Xris, "Have you ever thought that the gun culture you so enjoy has caused the insecurity and the need for you have to have a gun? Do you really believe that my car or my pen would endanger you as much as a snipers rifle? That I do not sleep nights because my neighbour has parker pen and he driv...

Xris, Numerous machine guns. Sniper rifle. Don't trust. A machine gun requires much less skill than a sniper rifle - only my opinion after using both, and in various calibers, following training by uncle Samuel. My home protection - four (4) GSDs, 12 ga. with 000. I sleep quite well. Never been a fa...

"Should People Be Allowed to Own Guns?" Sure. Why not. They can own cars, drink a quart of vodka and drive. You know, like a semi driver plowing into a school bus. So, why not guns? In the US, about half of the gun deaths are suicides, or so I am told. Less than 400 deaths last year were b...

Individuals make decisions. Some are swayed by others but the decision is theirs to own. To eat meat or not to eat meat. That is the question. Whether to have factory farms or not... Anyway... We do what we do and act how we act and advocate for what we favor, or not. Probably if a person saw a chic...

Re: Eating Animals

So, this evening, I shall prepare a meal of venison along with a very nice salad, and I will feed my family. I shall think of the time I spent in the woods, of the creatures I observed, of the sun and clouds, rain and cold, snow and wind, of the decisions made. I will think of the bounty harvested, ...

You really, really should read and then re-read your original post, and then edit or rewrite it, at least. In my opinion, you changed the rules as you responded to responses, or if not changed, certainly bent them a bit . Is it black and white or is it shades of gray... Hmmm. In the main, I think th...

"The old question of torture to gain the life of another has reappeared into our community. A young child has been abducted. The abductor has been identified and he will not divulge what has happened to the child, nor where she is. Is it our moral responsibility to secure that child's life by a...

Snappy retort. There are classes for bow and arrow building or crafting. A long-time hunter builds his bows and arrows (amazing works) and takes a deer or two each year. Of course, I'm too lazy. It seems that with club or stone is the preferred hunting approach to what? Give animals a fair chance? I...

In one post I composed and then erased, I was going to reference my children and what I might do should anything of that described happen to any one of them. I then considered it in the context of revenge - make no mistake I would be vengeful in such a circumstance. But the last person I'd want 'int...

Re: Ethical torture.

November 20th, 2012, 11:56 am

Over the years I've had this discussion with different friends. Some who live nice, above-the-fray, warm, fuzzy lives. They are usually appalled that anyone would even consider yelling, forget torture. Then there are those friends who seldom wear rose colored glasses; who see life as a struggle. The...

I have indeed considered the question. Within the scenario you described, and using whatever means I would employ, I would not feel a victim. We all carry baggage; the aftermath of our actions. If I do a thing it is with/for a purpose and by intentionally doing I give up any claim of being victimize...

Re: Ethical torture.

I doubt very much I would consider myself a victim after the fact. My methodology of interrogation would have no limit other than to stop short of killing the abductor because, from a practical perspective, the subject must be alive should provided information prove inconclusive. In the reality of t...

Re: Ethical torture.

(quote not shown) I'm of the opinion that torture is not ethical so the heading 'Ethical torture" is a false premise, at least as I see it. That noted, I will volunteer to discuss the status of the child with the identified abductor. He, she or it will cooperate. It has little to do with moral ...
