For whom,
if anyone,
are you willing to die?

I,
the fool,
will die for you.

And the lamb.

Sup, Spi? Let me preface with this to clarify my passion: These are my friends who are being tortured, killed, and eaten. And I find it hard to bear. Do you contend that ingesting high-cholesterol red meat with those canines and that digestive track is not unhealthy? And that delicious bacon to whi...

I applaud your sensibility regarding the torture that occurs in Factory Farming and your efforts to avoid it. Do you acknowledge the horrors of the dairy industry and strive against it as well? You said that you believe eating meat is "biologically natural and permissable". One response I...

"As long as there are slaughterhouses, there will be battlefields." - Leo Tolstoy What I mean to say is that a few years ago I found myself in a state of cognitive dissonance (the feeling of discomfort that results from holding two conflicting beliefs) as I pondered my demand for the righ...

It is true that we are omnivores able to ingest flesh. But there are many things we are able to do that we surely should not. If it is harmful to kill people because it ignores rights, prevents the enjoyment of future existence, and devastates families, perhaps it is harmful to kill animals for the same reasons. The fact that some group is different or of lower intelligence does not seem to be a valid justification for us...

Let's go back in time in a bit. Sure it would be great if black people were no longer enslaved, but I own a bunch slaves and I profit from their forced labor. Slavery will never be abolished because there is too much to be gained from oppression. So I might as well keep reaping the benefits of being...

Is it possible to be nice to people? Is it good to be nice to people? Is it possible to be nice to animals? Is it good to be nice to animals? Both people and animals have the ability to appreciate the kindness of others - either through verbal expressions of gratitude or simply by enjoying a life of...

The Difference...

November 6th, 2012, 8:12 pm

The difference, B, is that humans have the ability to know better, but choose to ignore. And regardless, I find it quite unfortunate that nature plays the way it does. Necessary, perhaps, for we can learn from observation how not to behave - and to understand how crucial it is that we rise to our fu...

And do you propose that I follow in suit and abandon all possibility of enhancement? Or is it bound to happen or not happen and nothing you say or do will affect my (in)ability to find reason and rhyme and to hold fast while the world threatens to destroy us all or give up in the name of frustration...
