May 10th, 2013, 1:02 am

"Therefore, all that is, came from Something. And that Something, is God." If only nothing can come from nothing and all somethings come from something either god is something and came from something (please explain what) or he is nothing (my prefered position)

Fair point! What I should have said is Even if we accept the existence of god as described in the bible (which I don't) given the nature of the world are you saying...

Re: The Concept of Zero

Within mathmatics zero is a useful tool to balance differing equations in reality however number is something to apply to existing entities so zero is just a method of talking about entities which we do not possess (so "Yes, we have no [zero] bananas")

Consider this If God exists he is the most intellegent and wise of all possible minds. Our experience of intellegent beings is that the most intellegent appreciate and value those who challenge their ideas and are willing to question their beliefs. The intellegent being finds purile and servile thos...

Re: Kant was an Atheist?

Would it not be fairer to say that whilst Kant was not an atheist; if he adhered to his moral position and was born into a 21st century world he would be.

Re: Why Atheism Cannot Be Logically Supported

September 13th, 2012, 9:36 pm

Forgive me if someone has already made this point but I just didn't have the time or stamina to wade through 65 pages of contributions. It would I believe be fair to say that atheism cannot be logically supported by deductive logic, and I would hold that this was true for any belief system. However,...

Coming from the UK which has a universal health care system free at the point of delivery I have a slightly different take on this question. Firstly I think anyone who is physically able to have childeren and the inclination to procreate should not be prevented from doing so. However, I do not belie...

I strongly suggest you research that and reconsider. Most Laws have absolutely nothing to do with Morality and are all to do with maintaining as trouble free society as possible.

No it only fails if I don't also accept that the examples you give shouldn't likewise be criminal. However given that I do think these activities should be criminal I am consistent.

Not from the scientific knowledge we currently have, but the use of the scientific method would seem to suffice: postulate hypothesis " there is a god" demonstrate through experement or observation <none> hypothesis fails.
