Re: Madness is extreme self-awereness

March 18th, 2013, 4:03 am

(quote not shown) Madness as in insane, a mental disorder -- and not like autism; could it be extreme self-awareness? Yes, and then it couldn't be; there are cases to take into thought. The question I would pose is, what would you rather be? From what I've seen people say so far about extreme self-a...

Re: Do the rules of cause and effect imply no free will?

February 4th, 2013, 2:41 am

For me, I'm torn about 49% we don't have free will; 51% we have free will. I flip a coin really and decide which stance I take in a debate. There is a lot in physics for one to wrap their head around, I have just scratched the surface. But, from the limited knowledge I have of physics, mainly quantu...

The rate of change, The rate of loss

February 4th, 2013, 12:58 am

My question and theory relies solely on the human difference. It takes a lot of discipline to build a new personality, takes very little to destroy one. I guess it's just how you look at it. With that said, the equation depends on, 1/2 how you look at it, and 1/2 the human difference. If you are hed...

Re: Do the rules of cause and effect imply no free will?

February 4th, 2013, 12:30 am

(quote not shown) This is some what of my thought process on this subject. We don't have the utility of such a tool like free will, it's limited, and I believe it's limited from dwindling after a certain maybe almost pure free will choice. My question for the OP, is if the universe is in us does tha...

The randomness is still decided by factors, like a 6 sided universal die with a number or character on each side. It is then rolled by an action from quantum mechanics -- though the outcome is still built there.

Re: What's the meaning of life?

January 31st, 2013, 3:58 am

(quote not shown) I'd say the better way to phrase this, and I had Eternal suggest this in my forum, "An Argument For A Purpose." Why does life feel the need to live and pass on its genes? My argument was that we evolved with greater ratios than that of other living organisms on this plane...

Re: A Perfect Government?

January 28th, 2013, 8:59 pm

Wow, I never heard a piano version. I just really think it depends on the leader, and letting the people decide for themselves. I mean just 'cause a few aren't happy doesn't make it a not perfect government, it just makes it not a utopia-esque society. A Hitler regime, just like a dictatorship -- ma...

I'm done indulging this Namthebabe.

He obviously has no real philosophical grounds to stand upon. Maybe nihilism, but it's pointless when debating with a person who just disagrees, add substance. Study and research philosophy, then debate.

Re: I like to hurt others. why is this wrong?

January 27th, 2013, 8:07 pm

It's interpretations of good and evil, wrong or right, sinner and righteous -- there's a consensus in the society with the culture you have around you. It's there to provide optimal growth for that society, 'cause life wants to live. It's not subjective, like words aren't subjective -- it's agreed u...

Namthebabe, if you are going to refuse support your claims. A simple, "says who, you?" Doesn't suffice. We're not in kindergarten.

EDIT: By the way, I'm not the only one to think it. Other more renown philosophers have thought it too.
Ethical relativists, like Edvard Westermarck.

^ I love that movie. Kevin Costner can do no wrong, from what I've seen so far. Lol

Edited:

Well, mine would be on the next page and no one can see what my arrow is pointing at. Mr. Brooks

Re: Right to pseudo

January 22nd, 2013, 2:33 pm

I've heard Plato's Cave so much the past two weeks, I must read it now. It's bugging me, it's like it's calling out to me. Lol But, see this is what my friend said about it being just an interpretation, if I understand what you're saying. What you get from the thought experiment and what it means, y...

Re: A Perfect Government?

(quote not shown) I too think this, but if I bring it up to others -- they yell fascist, or socialist. They think I'm extreme, and that I want to take away rights, when all I want to do is make it more defensible to people so they can't find loop holes, make it more concrete. I don't understand how ...
