Reflections on how the insane tell us they are.
Sounds mundane but at least here in the U.S. kids never refer to their mother as mother. That is an expression of contempt or displacement. None of us (who are sane) say mother I am going to the store, we say instead ma or mom I’m headed to the store. Mother distinctly implies distance or contempt, a lack of attachment to her as your actual mom.
Likewise are those who refer to themselves in the third person. This suggests an eerie disconnection from reality and personal culpability. I would say “I am going to the store now” not “Frank is going to the store now”. Referring to oneself often in the third person should be a huge red flag regarding morals.
So word to the wise, insane people are only hard to spot because you’re not listening. Even in other more subtle arenas like fishing for terrorists it’s not that hard. Humans are notoriously bad at hiding their agenda, you just have to pay attention to the language. It is not what they say it is all in what words they use. People are good at telling lies, but terrible in their choice of words to convey the lie. Listen more fully and you will rarely be fooled by anyone.
