Daniel Came debates the Existence of God
Daniel Came | Does God Exist? - Ireland, March 2017
Daniel Came offers several arguments against God's existence. One is God's hiddenness and another is the problem of evil.
What do you think of Came's arguments? Are they persuasive?

As yet, I haven't ventured into this one and a half hour debate.Spiral wrote: ↑April 28th, 2018, 10:06 pm In this debate Daniel Came debates the existence of God.

What might persuade me to?
Perhaps encourage my laziness and lack of motivation by pointing to any highlights ?
Is there anything new - cos you know it gets kinda same ole, same ole...
What did you get out of it?

Yeah, you are way more interesting than that guy. Did you think he was persuasive? Why?Spiral wrote: ↑April 28th, 2018, 10:06 pm In this debate Daniel Came debates the existence of God.

IMO, it's not a matter of whether God exists; it's a matter of whether He's still present in earthly matters. Christians are fond of citing John 3:16 (only begotten Son), but in the O.T. God refers to both Solomon & Ezekiel as sons; in fact, calling Ezekiel "Son of Man," the label given also to Jesus.

Isn't it possible that God did exist at the beginning of the universe, but has since left the universe? What is the difference between a God that is hidden and no God at all?Ser10Rec1pr0 wrote: ↑May 4th, 2018, 8:20 am I believe what is written in the Old & New Testaments: in the Old, God speaks directly to many; in the New, God speaks to no one directly. & In Amos (7:4, 8:2), He announces that He shall pass by His people no more.

The 'problem of evil' is long 'solved'.Spiral wrote: ↑April 28th, 2018, 10:06 pm In this debate Daniel Came debates the existence of God.

Daniel Came offers several arguments against God's existence. One is ... the problem of evil.
It is rooted in ignorance.
'Evil' is not a property of the 'observed', a;; 'good', all 'evil' exists in the judgmental eye (thoughts/ego) of the beholder!
A 'head filled with thoughts of 'evil' will find 'evil' wherever it looks!
No more than a 'thought/feeling'.
That there APPEARS to exist 'evil' is because we accept the 'appearance' of 'good'!
One cannot exist without the other! They define each other!
'Good' and 'evil' are merely two mutually arising opposite Perspectives of the same One Reality!
No 'problem' when one understands the nature of such things.
That is what is meant by "the Tao is the Leveler of All Things"; one Perspective doesn't take precedence over (another) it's diametrical opposite, thus 'resolving' all such (apparent) 'duality'.
(See; 'chrono-synclastic infundibulum')
Is this guy for real?... One is God's hiddenness
First, he can only speak for himself!
There are MANY who would claim that God is NOT 'hidden' to them!
So, he is saying that he is blind, and claims that 'light' does not exist, otherwise it wouldn't be 'hidden' from his 'observations'.
Not knowing that one is 'blind' does not mean that they are any less 'blind'.
So, the 4th grade notion of the world going away when we close our eyes, or if I can't see France, it doesn't exist (assuming that it does)? That's his argument?
Juvenile, ignorant, illogical... nonsense. What do you think of Came's arguments? Are they persuasive?
I can assume, from what you have shared, that any other of his 'arguments' will be, just as easily, eviscerated!
This guy's obviously no philosopher so, what's his 'expertise' that any one should care what he says?
It is not possible to 'prove' that anything (God) doesn't exist!
