Mankind

Post by Being_1925 »

On the story about Islam, it was only a few years ago that the beheading of some western Journalist’s was shown in the news. Because ISIS claimed to be the only true followers of Muhammad, his writings said the beheading should be done to unbelievers. So it takes a statement that these writings are out of date.

In the Christian time it was the enlightenment that got rid of the burning of witches and not the Christian clergy. No founder of any religion mentioned that cells are needed to create a body. Only with the microscope came the true condition of organic growth to light. No human mind could have created the cell, as it is invisible to him. So it is the wonder of energy that there is a cell and it is behind every cell.

As great as the wonder of a cell is, it depends on the human mind for the safety of its existence. This dependence for the safety of existence is now the duty of the government, as it claims to be democratic. This duty was carelessly handled by the German government 1924, when it pardoned Hitler from a sentence for a try to take the power to continue the war despite knowing that this would be like an invitation for him to try to continue the war again. So to pardon Hitler was a total gamble it was the cause for giving up all democratic control. Hitler always was a liar that he was for peace. and the war cost the lives of children from members of the SPD just as well as others. It would have been much better to trust in an international organization like the League of Nations. But now, with the atomic bomb coming out of the war, there is another threat for mankind.

Does the human mind put the very existence of organic life in jeopardy?

Probably not. The Anthropocene will probably result in mass extinctions, as it looks like it's starting to do now. And humans might die back to a much smaller population at various points in the future. But now that organic life has got a foothold on the Earth I think even we will have trouble wiping it out altogether. After all, remember there are living things miles down in the Earth's crust and at the bottom of the oceans living entirely independently of the sun.

Yes, but the danger of eradicating all life is remote.
Once humans kill one another off in significant numbers, fighting over depleted necessities, technology breaks down and the harm they can do is reduced by three magnitudes. As humans decrease, the odds of survival for other species improves. So, how many and what kinds of life-form remain on earth is largely a question of how long it takes for humans to retract into relatively harmless bands of subsistence scavengers.

How Malthusianism of you.

The real danger lies with conditions of decline. I am beginning to suspect that too much freedom of speech is going to be the end of us all. I recall that the idea of absolute freedom to promote ideas belonged to you. Careful what you wish for, thinking terms of the endless possible interpretative values of the world in league with the prevailing notion that no values are fixed and immutable. Nothing to stop the worst of ideas to seize the mainstream but education. So you would have to qualify freedom to what educated would think, dispute, take seriously. Call this freedom? I call it conditioning, the opposite of freedom.

Just describing what I see.

I don't recall copyrighting that. I wasn't even here in 1788.

But, do you really think that people talking is more dangerous than nuclear war and toxic water?

I think Skinner was right, qualifiedly: Free speech that is not anchored in a reasonable disposition is just a practical compromise to what we really want, which is good, decent, caring people speaking freely within the confines of caring decency and the rest. This requires conditioning, as awful as this sounds. we are, after all, always, already conditioned.
Copyrighting? 1788? Whimsical but vacuous.

Yes, if your example of such rambling, disconnected thinkings is a prime example of the average mind; we are indeed in trouble.

I don’t understand the point of the OP? Does organic life put organic life in jeopardy is not much different than saying fire puts fire in jeopardy.

Just because something exists it doesn’t mea when it ends the cause is it’s own doing ... it’s just the natural flow of the universe doing its thing. We are unique in teh sense that we can actually hold of the clammy hands of death and finality, that we ca move to other worlds, bring back old species and develop new life where none could previously have existed - Mars here we come!

My last post got nine answers, but they all were in response to the last Question and did not mention the wonders of energy.

The equation of mass equals energy suggests all is energy and there, science seems to be stuck, as energy can’t disappear and is attracted by the sun, something that is missed by science. But it also shows that all there is in the world is from energy and that is the wonder of energy. With the energy comes an attraction that results in a concentration of energy that gives rise to particles and atoms that give us the scale of the elements. This attraction is also the cause for all the stars in the very many constellations like the Milky Way. On much of the earth’s surface it is the organic life where energy was able to produce a cell, step by step for all the plants and animals and also for man. The body of man was very ideal for developing a much greater consciousness, that allowed him to ask, where are we coming from. So it is no wonder that one came up with the idea that a god must have it done. Now the microscope showed how a cell is necessary for organic growth. So far the religions did not take much notice of this fact of organic life. If they want to be caring for their followers they can’t forever ignore the facts of organic life and energy.
