Do you consider yourself a philosopher?

Use this philosophy forum to discuss and debate general philosophy topics that don't fit into one of the other categories.

This forum is NOT for factual, informational or scientific questions about philosophy (e.g. "What year was Socrates born?"). Those kind of questions can be asked in the off-topic section.

It comes down to understanding the basic principles that most others are blatantly unaware of.
I consider you to be an intellectually insecure ****.

But hey, there's clearly no reasoning to that comment, just "neurology, psychology and physics"...so what does it matter?

Quite the contrary my friend, I'v proven my security, when one goest up against a big boss of a big newspaper, the entire chief of staff, lawyers and what not. I don't even have a formal education, yet with reason and logic can defeat them.

However, it seems that you can only preform parrotspeeches, as you don't even know when to apply "insecurity" to a behaviour.

I'm extremely analytical. If I'm not doing something that requires concentration, I'm analyzing situations or theorizing ideas about inside my head. I'm 15, so compared to everyone else my age, yes.

On the UK census last year I wrote Philosopher as my occupation, and as job description said I wandered the streets, pubs, friends houses and the internet engaging people in philosophical conversations. Which pretty much sums up what philosophy was and Socrates did before Plato and Aristotle buggered it up and turned into and anal academic thing. Bring philosophy back to the streets I say. So the census will show at least one philosopher living in Britain.

The is great Grendel, but I must point out that even Socrates had a real job working as a stone mason or something like that. I think I'll do the same thing next census we have here in the states.

Which is kind of an argument philosophy is the preserve of brickies and labourers, not academics. Then of course there's Diogenes....... Perhaps the carboard boxes under Waterloo bridge are the place to find real philosophers. 24 Hour Party People had a homeless philosopher, so did Naked,
