Only for eyes and ears?

Post by Zatoichi »

Maxima Artis Kosmopolites says:"Someones creates for eyes and ears – others for what's beneath the neck and near".
It can be translated in both ways... You can say that all art has been created for eyes and ears... And art is not something that will fill your belly or make comfortable place for your ass... Or you can say that true art is only what has been created for aesthetics pleasure of (C)creator( without thinking about some other profits )?

I take art as a hobby and stress reliever getting a profit from it is only an additional. Also it is not just for the eyes and ears but for the heart too.

I would say for the mind too, but everything that comes from eyes and ears goes throught the mind anyhow... And if it can touch your heart as symbol of feelings too - that is great, but not mondatory...

But what do you think design is? An aesthetically good-looking chair isn't only a utility neither only art. It is both of them combined. A well thought out and practical design is always pleasing to the sense of aesthetic pleasure.

A good disign is not a warranty of a comfort of your ass;) - On the contray - the best looking chair will be the most uncomfortable... Of coarse if you took an artist and give him a tech specialist - together they will create combined stuff, but tru artist is lousy technologist - tru artist can only repeat the tech as well as tru inventor can only repeat art...
