Goreshit- o'er the flood.

I find it opens up my mind and settles me a little, allows me too think. It has no vocals but seems to have something in it that I love.

song can be found here-

Taking the thread title literally, it might well be this one. It's from a BBC children's series called Horrible Histories but don't let that put you off - it's brilliantly done.

That's great. And it possibly explains why my 7 year old son surprised me the other day with his knowledge of Rosa Parks and the civil rights movement.

Horrible Histories is brilliant.

Divorced, beheaded and died,
Divorced, beheaded survived.
I'm Henry the eighth, I had six sorry wives.
Some might say I ruined their lives.

Watching Horrible Histories on Youtube is my secret vice. Actually my public vice. My secret vice is just that- secret.

"Don't You Want to Thank Someone" by Andrew Peterson, or anything Andrew Peterson really. "Something's Missing" by John Mayer. "One Step Away" by Jason Upton. "Blowing in the Wind" by Bob Dylan.

That's a hard question! I consider myself a songwriter, but I don't know if I am philosophical with my songwriting. I'm sure there are more songs that get me thinking philosophically, but I can't think of many more right now.

Not so philosophical, really, but what is philosophy but a vehicle to understanding, and what is understanding if not deeper meaning, and what is this if not poetry to music.....or something like that.

A lot of Frank Zappa. For example almost any song from "Absolutely Free", such as "uncle Bernie's Farm":

There's a man who runs the country
There's a man who tried to think
And they're all made out of plastic
When they melt they start to stink
There's a book with smiling children
Nearly dead with Christmas joys!
And smiling in his office
Is the creep who makes the toys . . .

or "Brown Shoes Don't Make It"

Be a jerk-go to work
Be a jerk-go to work
Do your job, and do it right
Life's a ball
TV tonight
Do you love it
Do you hate it
There it is
The way you made it

A world of secret hungers
Perverting the men who make your laws
Every desire is hidden away
In a drawer in a desk by a Naugahyde chair
On a rug where they walk and drool
Past the girls in the office
