If we took Ganzfeld and Global Consciousness Study seriously
I thought about this last night a bit more while listening to another lecture on neutral monism. Panpsychism was brought up and while, in a loose sense, it could be true it's not the kind of concept we'd typically think of as providing a fungible relationship between consciousness and matter. I tend to throw my hat in on this one with functionalism as the best explanation but I'm really curious as to what other people think. To me the saddest thing is seeing these ideas, especially if the experiments are as well reproduced as suggested, get relegated to a sort of scientistic new-age corner of culture and the internet where, outside of the Deepak fan base, few people know much about it. I'd figure proposing sensible models is probably the best start and from that it seems like what we're dealing with is a monism that can behave in ways that lend impressions of dualism without having to resort to anything too strange in the artificial reality sense.
