I do accept that there has been an attempt to invent a field of magical properties to justify twenty thousand scientist and engineers spending 80 billion dollars. What else could they do but produce a sparkler and make outrageous claims about a particle that is not a particle but a field. This particle is proof it exists. What exists? A concept, a concept remember, not a field not a particle but a concept. If you read the small print there is doubt, confusion and they even call on the big bang to support their vague an elusive claims. Please remember that science is still confused why there is no ether when it undoubtedly requires one using another questionable concept , the PHOTON.

The photon is not a questionable concept. [...] It was 10 billion dollars, and it is a very real and understood theory that originated in the 60's. This has nothing to do with the Big Bang. [...] I already dismissed the aether [...] No, scientists are not still (oh so stupidly) confused about the aether, the concept was replaced by general relativity ONE HUNDRED years ago.

TeenPhilosopher wrote:... Oh God. Why am I wasting my time? The photon is not a questionable concept. An elementary school student gets that. I already dismissed the aether, why are you so fixated on it??? No, scientists are not still (oh so stupidly) confused about the aether, the concept was replaced by general relativity ONE HUNDRED years ago. Get your facts right, man! Please let no one be confused with your anti-science mindset.
If you continue to be abusive I will cease my conversation with you. I am not anti science. I am against the false and misrepresented field of theoretical science. The photon does not exist except in the mind of those who had no alternative to explaining light. If you can show me one of these pesky fellows I would appreciate it. It is the same for this invented god particle. We start with a certainty and then spend untold billions looking for it. Could they really accept failure?

The Higgs Field and Higgs Boson particle, are formal scientific theories and are not subject to interpretation (at least, as to what they are!). Second off, The Big Bang is almost certainly what happened egarded as reporting matters of actual fact.

Almost certainly what happened????? I doubt that conjecture to be true.

I'm sorry if my writing is a bit boggy , you are more than a bit boggy.

True, “YOU” should make sure you are well informed about the subject (especially, especially when it comes to astrophysics/cosmology).

I do not question the fact that a Scientific Theory is nothing more than conjecture, speculation.

THEORY, HYPOTHESIS are used in non-technical contexts to mean an untested idea or opinion.

Theory;

1. a coherent group of general propositions used as principles of explanation for a class of phenomena: 2. a proposed explanation whose status is still conjectural, in contrast to well-established propositions that are regarded as reporting matters of actual fact. 5. a particular conception or view of something to be done or of the method of doing it; a system of rules or principles. 6. contemplation or speculation. 7. guess or conjecture.
