I'd like to know what you mean by percieve anything from a position outside of consciousness. That sounds like an obvious contradiction.Belinda wrote:Isn't ultimate truth what can be perceived only from a position outside of consciousnesses?
It is hard to define the "ultimate truth", and it was wrong of me to use it since people have many different opinions on what the term means. I meant by an "ultimate truth" a consistent theory which we know a priori which we use to describe all observable events, predict un-observed events, and predict events impossible to observe. In short, a theory that explains the whole world.
I think that there are fundamental properties of living things that makes this impossible to achieve. We are only capable of having a subjective understanding of the world, because all we can use is our senses. And thus I cannot be certain whether we can achive this. =)
