Time; allows you to live, learn, think, do, exist, have sex.... or to set a time to have a lobotomy, or to spend time with your kids or loving family. TIME allows you to escape for awhile too. Without TIME, NOTHING is possible. Please look up my Newton physics formulation for TIME. It physically accounts for space, time, matter and existence. Chapman aka Timeman

The word would depend upon my current frame of mind and interests. AND it would fail to express anything about what I think in any meaningful way so I'll just refuse to play the game :)

Interesting little exercise though and hopefully made some realise the limitations of language.

My L word is: Legacy. If you don't leave a mark, then you didn't matter.

My 'L' word is: Lozenge. Say it slowly. Feel the word on your tongue. Feel its onomatopoeia.

Is it really necessary to leave some kind of residue in order to matter, do you think?

I completely agree with what you said in your first sentence but you'd be surprised with what understanding your current one word means. Any form of expression even if it is only one word, is not a waste of time or incorrect. You are able to inform a truth that may not be the same truth (one word) in the future. Identifying the singularity of what we individually value the most is a way to observe your spirituality grow. You will cherish the growth of what you value the most and establish a sense of reformation to better yourself for tomorrow, today.

The question isn't designed to limit language, it is about awareness. Time is the limitation in this question.

TIME does not limit, it allows. If you don't have time, how can you run out of it? Your TIME allowance limits.....

Please feel free to express your mind with your response.

My one word is Will. Without this value, I wouldn't have a force of movement towards progression.

Thanks for your time, AK
Love, followed closely by passion. I mean love in a pretty broad sense, and least of all in a romantic sense. But things like love of family, friends, learning, the arts, etc. And, to me, passion is the intensity with which ones feels that love, so they go pretty close together hand in hand. Love hard!

Clearly I think so. But here's why. Most folks think their legacy is the only thing greater in importance than themselves. Hence why common folk will sacrifice themselves for their children. Hold on, you say, what about sacrificing oneself for a great cause (the suffering of war refugees, for example)? Actually that too qualifies as that person's legacy.

Of course one could prove the point in the opposite direction. If your existence leaves no measurable difference to the world after you are gone, did you really matter? Were you a waste of oxygen?

Uummm... since the OP is asking: "In one word, what is the one value that holds the most power in your life?", you might want to make a different choice.

Is "power" not a powerful word? :) I misread too. "Gratitude" is more aspirational than powerful for me.

When I feel uncentred I have a little gimmick to feel better that I call "PPG" - posture, poise, groove.

So first I seek to straighten up and breathe purposefully.

But I don't want to be like an "Alexandroid" - where in the 90s you could tell when someone was an Alexander Technique newbie because they looked as though they had a big stick up their bum. So "poise" means to consider internal comfort and external appearance.

"Groove" comes because I play drums, so the word brings to mind notions of relaxed fluidity with playfulness.

flushing mechanisms in water closets.

Since it's restricted to one word, it's gotta be "mechanisms". But that just by itself alone loses the flavour of importance.
