It would appear that the Human nature of those who use emojis is competitive and the Human nature of those who do not is cooperative.

Competitiveness and passive-aggressiveness are closely related and might be an indicator of Human nature when there has been past trauma or threats to one's survival, either real or perceived. Human nature is based on self-preservation, and the methods of such are determined by childhood experiences.

Most psychologists should be "interviewed" on their own couch.

Is the silly face at the end of your posts a bad habit you've picked up from Elder or a sign of your own poor taste?

All this just because I implied that Elder has a tendency to throw his Teddy out of the cot when things aren't going his way. Why would you get worked up over that? Is there something going on with you two?

Well, I for one thought Alec's comment was kind of witty.

The problem I have with Elder is that he refuses to participate in any real discussion of the issues he raises. He "will not debate with the evaders or the hopelessly confused" - which is apparently anyone who dares to question his point of view. Sounds pretty elitist to me. He will quote somebody or refer you to a link but seems incapable of having an honest back and forth. I'm thinking that he's not confident in his ability to slay his opponents in a fair debate and likes to think that he has cast pearls before swine and doesn't want to wallow in the mud with them. I wonder how that attitude of superiority went over in his working life.

Have you noticed anything going on between us? I'm certain not to have pleased him with some of my posts and not interested in doing so if we differ on essentials.

I agree when you imply that Elder takes things too seriously at times. But how can anyone "seriously" judge this? Some people seem to care more than others and based on only this, they have my respect in spite of not always being in tune with the style of their responses. For myself, it means absolutely nothing if the last strand of human DNA was wiped from the Universe or what the destiny of humans would eventually amount to. Personally, I experience it as a horrifically alien species to begin with beyond repair.

But the question remains, when was the last time you actually countered an argument that could have been better expressed based in your own views than your rather indulgent and perennial sarcasms? Wouldn't the dismemberment of an argument be more interesting even if it's conclusion is not quite correct which is usually the case for most posts?

I'm also prone to ridicule those who write pure bunk and frustrated that one can't call a spade a spade in four letter words on THIS site but sometimes a knot is worthy to be untied and not merely made fun of. You've given indication that you're capable! Why not apply it more often and if a post is truly a piece of sht, as many are, then I too would tend to "laminate" it accordingly as I often have.

How seriously he takes things isn't really the problem. Neither is the content of his posts, regardless of how ridiculous or sinister they sometimes are. The problem with Elder is that he seems to have the delusion that this is his classroom and the rest of us are a bunch of spotty faced school kids, here to be educated by him. He dismisses the ones who won't go along with him and pats the ones who will on the head. He behaves like someone with ambitions to be some kind of cult leader but, fortunately, he doesn't have enough charisma to achieve that.
But the question remains, when was the last time you actually countered an argument that could have been better expressed based in your own views
There are plenty of others doing that. I don't think the fact that I don't is depriving anybody of anything.

Another fragile and bruised ego, obsessing with my motivation, mental state and secret 'agenda', instead of my arguments!

How pathetic!

Since you have no arguments to address there's not much left to deal with other than the attitude.

Where are your arguments?
