When measured historically, the intrusion of the government is decreasing. It is the intrusion of private business into the lives of the population that is growing.SimpleGuy wrote: ↑March 18th, 2018, 1:53 pm We all know that the amount of public officials is growing in the industrial countries. Nevertheless observation and even restriction of civil rights do get accepted by society. Can we somehow conlude that public officials have something to do with an overall big brother state interfering with private rights of personality ? Is the big brother still an actual discussion theme in the time of the bci-technology. Is there a relation which can be certified between the percentage of public officials and the harassment of normal non public officials ?

As I see it, government, at least in the United States, has once again become business by other means. With the rise of social media the intrusion has increased alarmingly. When measured historically, the intrusion of the government is decreasing. No doubt that in recent times the formal and informal ties between captains of business and individual government members has solidified. Though the source of this is business creeping into government, not government intruding into business. Historically governmental intrusion into business has been to protect the populace from business not to promote it.Fooloso4 wrote: ↑March 21st, 2018, 11:34 am LuckyR:

I agree.
What is going on today is similar to what was occurring before Teddy Roosevelt took decisive measures to keep business and government separate by limiting the power and influence that was moving in both directions. Another similarity is with regard to the business of news and propaganda, although Roosevelt fought against propaganda and Trump relies on it.Historically governmental intrusion into business has been to protect the populace from business not to promote it.
