If they could do that again, but more evolved after past experience and able to withstand Conservative objection (and avoid getting another Thatcher or Reagan to screw it all up) that would be great.

Really hard to put something in to words that doesn’t sound trite.
I would have to go with a revolution in how we think about education and pedagogy in general. That is to, somehow, always keep alive our innate curiousity for the world/self/community and to value all fields of interest with equal respect.
From there (because I have faith in the human race) I believe all other problems would be dealt with in the best manner possible.
