My personal view is that a story is a story, used to illustrate a moral value. If you want to take the story literally, that's fine, just as long as you understand the moral value which it is pointing to. To make a story interesting, Hollywood likes to add drama. A miracle here and there, will always add interest to a story, if only because we wonder how it is possible. Let's face it, humans love to hear entertaining stories. To me, it's completely beside the point whether or not the stories are based on fact. They are what they are, so why not simply enjoy them, rather they haggle over whether they are real?

Some hybridized sects made the "Jesus Christ" out of that figure, but the Pauiline "Christ" was not really human, only a divine being who decided to shapeshift into the likeness of a human. This is also in agreement with the John Gospel's "Logos" figure. No birth story!
