The Philosophy Forums at OnlinePhilosophyClub.com aim to be an oasis of intelligent in-depth civil debate and discussion. Topics discussed extend far beyond philosophy and philosophers. What makes us a philosophy forum is more about our approach to the discussions than what subject is being debated. Common topics include but are absolutely not limited to neuroscience, psychology, sociology, cosmology, religion, political theory, ethics, and so much more.
This is a humans-only philosophy club. We strictly prohibit bots and AIs from joining.
Discuss philosophical questions regarding theism (and atheism), and discuss religion as it relates to philosophy. This includes any philosophical discussions that happen to be about god, gods, or a 'higher power' or the belief of them. This also generally includes philosophical topics about organized or ritualistic mysticism or about organized, common or ritualistic beliefs in the existence of supernatural phenomenon.
I think intelligent beings have the survival aode in our brains. When our brains realized they were mortal this was unacceptable. The answer our brains devised was an after life through religions. This is the reason for many religions. Religions were created worldwide. Conveniently each religion fit the societal mores and customs of that locale. My definition of heaven is simple.Once we die and lose awareness we are in heaven. No awareness is a blessing we will never be aware of, but the escape from this place is something to look forward to. Personally I wish the multiverses did not exist. I wish intelligent life had never evolved. I say this because aside from reproducing life has no meaning. My wife and I are experiencing the painful path to escape. The reason for my wish is this, even though we will eventually escape billions are following the steps to an often physical and mental demise.
