Jakarta Ex-Governor Jailed for Blasphemy! Islam on Trial?

Post by Spectrum »

This is a very interesting case-study example to demonstrate why Islam has exposed itself as inherently evil [partially], i.e. very intolerant.

Jakarta's Christian governor jailed for blasphemy against Islam
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-indon ... SKBN1842GE
"Jakarta's Christian governor has been sentenced to two years in jail for blasphemy, .."

The very troublesome sign here was the judges [majority are Muslims] took upon themselves to make their own decision to impose a greater sentence than what was proposed by the prosecutors.
So the prosecutors are appealing against the excessive sentencing by the judges.

http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2017 ... rdict.html
"Prosecutors have formally appealed the North Jakarta District Court's decision to sentence Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama to two years in prison for blasphemy.
The sentence imposed by the North Jakarta District Court's judge panel in a hearing on May 9 was stiffer compared to the prosecutors' previous demand of two years' probation and one year in prison if he reoffended.
"

The sequence of events are as follows;
  • 1. The ex-governor of Jakarta, Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama, an incumbent was vying for re-election.

    2. He started with something like a 70+% popularity due to his meritorious performance of being a very clean and result orientated governor.

    3. His opponents from the Islamic-based parties cited a Quranic verse 5:51;
    • 5:51. O ye [Muslims] who believe! Take NOT the Jews and Christians for friends*. They [infidels] are friends one to another. He [any Muslim] among you [Muslims] who taketh them [infidels] for friends is (one) of them [i.e. infidel]. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.
      (* awliyaa = protectors, allys, guardian, general friends)
    to threaten Muslims that they should not vote a Christian as their leader or else they will be an infidel and they go to Hell as the verse implied.

    4. Purnama like any normal human being who ignorantly assumed 'all religions are peaceful by nature' thus simply did not believe such a thing to be true. He made some comments to that effect that his Islamic opponents were misinterpreting the said verse and misleading them not to vote for him.

    5. The catch is this;
    i. his opponents believed they had correctly interpreted 5:51, i.e. the Quran do not allow Muslims to vote for a Christian [an inferior being] to be their leader in whatever capacity.
    ii. if the Christian ex-Governor condemned the Islamic opponents as lying by misinterpreting the verse 5:51, then, he is effectively insulting Allah as lying!

    6. So his opponents accused Purnama, the Christian ex-Governor as blasphemy, i.e. implying Allah [in Quran] is lying.

    7. Purnama's defense was he was accusing his opponents not the Quran and Islam. His opponents insisted what they told their supporters from the Quran is true and that Purnama had committed blasphemy, i.e. implying Allah was lying.

    8. The initial charge was blasphemy, but the prosecutor proposed the charge to be 'hate speech.'

    9. The judges went against the prosecutors and on their own charged Purnama of blasphemy and sentenced him to a 2-years imprisonment.
During the course of the trial, the ex-Governor's popularity suddenly dropped to as low as 40% from 70%.
This meant that a lot of marginal Muslims voters out of a fear-of-God's wrath agreed with the clerics re 5:51 they should not vote for a Christian else they could go to hell. Purnama lost the election.

Purnama [naive and ignorant] was very confident the judges [supposedly more wiser and rational] will side with him and agree with him his opponents were interpreting 5:51 wrongly.

The worst awaited Purnama, the judges even consulted his cleric opponents as expert witness. :shock:
The judges [3 Muslims, 1 Hindu] found Purnama guilty of blasphemy which meant they agreed [objectively] the cleric opponents were truthful in telling their supporters not to vote for a Christian as per 5:51.
This meant the judges agreed 5:51 is as per Allah words objectively and Purnama was implying Allah was lying when he accused his opponents of abusing the verse for their interests.

Now if the judges agree 5:51 of the Quran is true as per Allah's words, they are openly affirming the intolerance of Islam as a religion, i.e. do not vote for a Christian leader. Condoning intolerance of others is an evil element of a certain degree and it is worst of a God and religion [supposedly peaceful] were to do that.

Note in 5:51 Allah literally commanded Muslims not to take Christians as guardians, leaders in whatever aspects of their life. The concept of 'awliya' also extend to not taking Christians and non-Muslims as general friends.

In 3:118 Allah commanded Muslims not to take non-Muslims as intimate and close friends.
  • 3:118. O ye [Muslims] who believe! Take not for intimates [friends biṭānatan بِطَانَةً ب ط ن ] others [infidels] than your own folk, who [these infidels] would spare no pains to ruin you [Muslims]; they [infidels] love to hamper [ʿanittum عَنِتُّمْ ع ن ت ] you [Muslims]. Hatred is revealed by (the utterance of) their [infidels] mouths, but that which their [infidels] breasts hide is greater. We have made plain for you [Muslims] the revelations if ye will understand.
As such those Muslims who befriended and befriending non-Muslims at present are sinning and will be liable to punishment on Judgment Day! :shock:
Most moderates ignore this command because they are more human than risk punishment from Allah or they just be an ostrich to it and hope things will turn out OK.
The true Muslims will take 5:51, 3:188 and many similar verses literally with the assurance they will be rewarded for their enmity to non-believers.

The inference from the above is Islam is intolerant and thus cannot be a peaceful religion.

The above relate to merely one verses. There are hundreds and thousands of evil laden verses of various degrees in the Quran.

I predict any one who accuse and condemn the Quran as evil [partially] because it inspire and condone Muslims to fight and kill non-believers will be sentenced for blasphemy in Indonesia based on the above precedent because such a call for violence by Allah can be proven to be true in the Quran.

My point;
The above case of a charge of blasphemy based on 5:51 being the true words of Allah in the Quran prove the Quran-Islam has evil elements and thus cannot be claimed to be a peaceful religion.
Not-a-theist. Religion is a critical necessity for humanity now, but not the FUTURE.
