No one votes to have someone take ALL the decisions for them in their name. Some prefer to shirk the responsibility of national problems, and some are simply too busy, and or ill-educated, to give a damn beyond their immediate sphere.
You’re talking about the world stage here. The underlying question is when the individual should step up to the fore (for some it’s easier.) So to blame the entire populace for the action of one leader is daft, although there is no doubt a grain of truth in this for SOME of the populace.
I’ve never lived under a president so I wouldn’t know about your idea of being “represented” by such a person as significant or not. I certainly have never regarded members of my country as representing my personal views and interests even though we share some common views and a common hertitage.

If democracy is to say what you want to say without having any value or political influence.
If democracy does not represent the people's rule for itself?
If the president is not authorized by the people?
What is your concept of democracy?
What is the importance of democracy for you?

I asked first. Plus, I also made it clear that many countries call themselves “democracies.” For example the system of democracy in teh US is quite different from teh system in say, Germany or France. What they have in common is the masses haev some degree of control over how their country is run as a collective group of citizens.
Essentially people choose from the government representatives who they deem are most suited for the job. Obviously every varient of this system has problems because people are falible, lie and cheat in order to get the upperhand sometimes. Humans can also be incredibly selfish. We’re not all pure altruists by any sense of teh imagination.
