But we should know about good things that Hitler's Germany did and why Hitler's Germany did those good things and likewise by knowledge and judgement avoid the bad things that Hitler's Germany did. Then we might be the more able imitate the one and avoid the other. Good use of historical knowledge and understanding is not to be got via fear of political incorrectness. I did not myself gather that Anarchy is Bliss implied that the Holocaust was not a major crime against humanity.

As philosophers we may argue that a dictatorship provides technological advances that are impossible for a true democracy. I prefer democracy but it is the philosopher's duty to argue with reason for her chosen stance.
I agree we should look at both the good and bad decisions made by past governments but I just don't agree with how the Holocaust was weighed against vegetarianism and safer highways.

Also, if technological advancements can only be achieved through tyrannical dictatorships then I am happy to live in the stone ages :)

The problem with anarchy is that for it to work everyone has to abide by the rules ... which has always seemed to me to be a somewhat strange dichotomy. I would suggest that most successful experiments in anarchy are really examples of direct democracy or groups of people who just didn't give a ...

The problem with the 'advantages of government' is that it's more often than not a double edged sword that tends to cut the poor more than the rich.

As for the original question ... Gandhi has already answered this and shown that civil disobedience works.

Chris_ evil does not negate the positive things that Hitler brought about....which innocent modern Germans are now benefitting from. I believe you are misinterpreting Belinda's comment. You might apply your interpretation regards the Holocaust to the evil of dropping an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and blasting hundreds of thousands of innocent people into cinders. As for Anarchy, no one said it would work but it COULD work if the people were sufficiently evolved but of course, we are not as yet, but that does not mean we cannot put some of the ideas to use and build on that.
