Are We Living in a Computer Simulation? Elon Musk Thinks So.

Chat about anything your heart desires here, just be civil. Factual or scientific questions about philosophy go here (e.g. "When was Socrates born?"), and so most homework help questions belong here. Note, posts in the off-topic section will not increase new members post counts. This includes the introductions and feedback sections.

What do you think, are we living in a simulation?

At what point would the simulations be able to feel aliveness, qualia?

The idea that there was one real universe followed only by simulations strikes me as dubious. Serial universes would seem more likely.

An easy way to determine that is by looking for the limitations of the simulation if we are in one, since the computer the simulation would run on could not simulate ad infinitum and is limited by the number of qubits (or other method of data transcription) allowed to it by its host universe. So just start following any irrational number's sequence of values, if you ever reach a sudden end, you know you're living in a simulation.

I've heard of the idea that the Universe is a computer simulation, but not your method of resolving the issue.

It makes sense.

Bravo!
