I worked in training & development for some years and there was always the sense that, if there was to be a restructure, that we'd be amongst the first to go. I expect a corporate philosopher position would be at least as tenuous, but it's an interesting role, part life-coach, part analyst, part ethicist.
Maybe the position could be casual - a philosopher on call? Dial-a-Thinker :)
