Interesting that threshers, grinders and wheels are most effective, being the only kind of weaponry that are not seen in nature.

SawBlaze is a... diamond tipped saw... with a flamethrower to melt internals through the slice in the armor. Huge is a vertical spinner that is so tall that it can hit high angles (where armor is typically thin), in addition it is plastic so is incredibly agile and can always turn such that it is always approached towards the weapon.
The best weapons in nature are not allowed, namely a web to immobilize spinny stuff

True about the weapons bans. Interesting how tech goes. They banned nets and pure wedgebots to prevent lopsided contests, and now the contests are lopsided in favour of spinners. Of course, human combat makes clear the most effective fighting strategy - lethal sharp or explosive projectiles sent at great speed and accuracy from a safe distance. This would, however, pose a slight safety problem for drivers, staff and audiences :)

There is a cannon bot this time. Problem is, only one shot.Greta wrote: ↑July 6th, 2018, 6:37 pm That's good. Maybe the Kiwis can carry Antipodean pride? The Australian bot, modelled after a croc, was annihilated by Captain Shredderator, which was hardly the greatest bot itself, but our bot make it look like a world beater

Probably for the best :)
It's not wildly different to a nature-inspired bot I thought up (speaking as one with near-Lego level engineering knowledge and skills). I would call it Mantis Shrimp, inspired by the animal's famous punch, although Tyson could work as a name too. It would basically be a small, solid box like Minotaur but, instead of a roller it would have a heavy metal puncher pushed out with explosive force, maybe hydraulic.

There is a puncher bot but it was poorly designed and underpoweredGreta wrote: ↑July 7th, 2018, 1:02 amProbably for the best

Ah yes, this was about football :) The Poms are looking good but I like the look of France's play. The Croats will be too tired after two extra time games and Brazil were the strongest team, but not the luckiest (that goes to Belgium). Apparently Brazillian diving to some extent stems from the way the Brazillian league is refereed, being much more strict about contact.
Still, the rolling and writhing makes for good entertainment - to see tough young lads who have battled their way up the ranks to the world stage thinking they are being clever by acting like, well, babies - hell, not even five year old girls tend to react like that - and thinking that no one will realise that they are acting.

Not wanting to be horrible but it is always fun to watch when the Brits get excited in the soccer and then fall - the sense of melodrama and tragedy seems to revitalise the dormant spirit of Shakespeare within the British breast, such is the poignantly dignified desperation. It's as if half the nation (the sports crazy part) turn into Anthony Hopkins in Remains of the Day en masse. Almost Nordic in its contained melancholic and agonised beauty.
I have to admit that I like the French team, and they play well too.

I would like an England v France final, because some of my family have French connections, are in France now, and I think they should definitely watch it in a bar wearing all England colours. That would definitely be a good idea.

England v France would be be much fun, esp for you and yours. Still, if Croatia force yet another penalty shootout with England the hospitals will have to be on alert for elderly football fans keeling over.
