In addition to that, you could be the proud owner of a new tattoo in a matter of hours but don't let the ease of getting tattoos stop you from making a thoughtful decision about permanent body art. If you first take steps to protect yourself from possible risks, what seems like a cool idea now is less likely to turn into a source of regret later.

Body tatoos and piercing may be cute on cute girls but they are usually unattractive on unattractive old ladies. The same is true for guys.

Are you saying that tattoos and piercings are okay on cute guys but not old men, or that they look bad on men in general? If the latter, I'd have to disagree. There are plenty of men who look great with piercings and tattoos. I have three piercings in my ear and I love the look.

Considering getting a body piercing Similarly as with a facial puncturing, many individuals end up noticeably troubled about nose piercings notwithstanding how severely they may need one. This is for the most part because of the way that their activity may not support of facial piercings, their families dislike the idea of a nose puncturing or they may simply be reluctant about taking the penetrating out when they have to. For whatever the reason, there are bounty a bigger number of professionals to nose piercings than there are cons! There are really a few unique sorts of piercings and body jewelery that people are utilizing as a part of their nose that has changed the look of this kind of puncturing by and large.

Piercings and tattoos have two issues that other fashion does not. Obviously they are essentially permanent and can in certain circumstances make you unemployable in some fields.

But like most things it isn't about the piercing itself, rather why they are feeling the need for the piercing.

Perhaps if we weren't so judgmental, and tended to our own business, we'd be more grateful for what we have (and are) rather than getting up the noses of others? Hmmmm?
What is considered 'disfigurement' by a judgmental person, goes unnoticed, or even is appreciated, by the non-judgmental.

Kudos to you, as you have succeeded in putting down judgementalism in a very judgemental tone. Not an easy task.

Cute, but no cigar.
All such (all 'values', all 'meaning') 'tones' exist in the judgmental thoughts/ego of the beholder.
To recognize judgment is not the same thing as judging it.
It 'appears' so, though, to the judgmental ego. *__-

Forgot to mention, even if I were the most judgmental person on the planet, would that not make me rather the authority to recognize it when I see it? Does that make my words less true?
I make no claims either way.

I've run into that problem too - the damnation of the judgemental! I note your deliberately gentle tone in this post - necessary to avoid judging the one who judges those who judge and falling into infinite regress.

The issue for the OP was a typical generational clash. Basically each generation rejects aspects of visceral beauty valued by the prior generation, which is replaced by something less classically beautiful but has other, more abstract appeals.

I'm going to add my vote to the side which believes that a cigar (at least a small one, like maybe a Cafe Creme or slim panatella) is actually due, because LuckyR did indeed seem to create a reasonably good firebreak to halt the advance of the infinite judgmental loop.

This sounds like it could turn into one of those "can God create a stone so heavy that even He can't lift it?" questions. Could the ultimate Judge - the great Judy in the sky - judge Himself?

Regarding tattoos:

I've noticed on visits to swimming pools that where I live, at least, almost everybody nowadays has at least some tattoos somewhere on their bodies. I rarely see any adults who don't. But I don't, and therefore if it's a matter of the accepted norms of society, then I have to conclude that I am the disfigured one who needs urgent corrective surgery (i.e. a tattoo) to make me look normal. But I'm not going to do it. I like to think of that as my little rebellion. Perhaps, in future, people with no tattoos will be exhibited as circus freaks like the Elephant Man?

Again, observing 'judgmentalism' is not judging it, any more than detecting a 'speeder' makes you one.

Invalid question, see why;

Can God Make a Rock So Big He Cannot Lift It?

Could the ultimate Judge - the great Judy in the sky - judge Himself?
All 'judgment' is Self! judgment! Self! = God!
So all judgment is Us judging OurSelf!
Which is why the Wise never 'believe' anything that they think/feel! It is thought/ego from which 'judgment' arises.
It is 'thought/ego' that was the original Forbidden Fruit (tm); that little red devil on our shoulders whispering into our willing ears! *__-

Steve, "the great Judy in the sky - judge Himself?" strikes me as oddly gendered. Was Judge Judy once Judge Bruce??

This is how nerds rebel. Rather than dressing to annoy they simply neglect to perform the expected grooming tasks.

In scientific institutions one can see numerous examples of nerd rebellion - hair akimbo, unshaven faces, legs and armpits, khaki shorts with white socks and Jesus sandals, the too-small windcheaters, the too-short brown trousers ...

You have ignored the cyclicity of fashion. Tattoos were out (only true rebels had them), now they are in (rebel wanna bes everywhere have them). That's fine. If bomber jackets are trendy, no one expects more folks joining the Air Force.

However, in the future it is guaranteed that tattoos and piercings will again be out. Which for the trend followers will present a larger problem than placing your bomber jacket in the Salvation Army bin.
