Intrusive popups

Post by Wooden shoe » March 10th, 2014, 10:44 pm

I am having an ongoing with popups which try to download programs on my puter lately. when I try to cancel it by clicking on the X it does not go away, instead it opens a website. All of this is slowing my puter down. I only get this on this philosophy site, which makes me think it is hitch-hiking on this website.

So is anyone else having this problem? It is happening on both my PC and my MAc.

Regards, John.

I don't employ any such popup ads. I would suggest running a virus/malware detector on your computer.

I am concerned that it is happening on your PC and your Mac. Do you have any information about where the popups go or what they are advertising?

Hello Scott.

www.gfi.com www.cooleh.com service.amasvc.com

The second one is for an update to a media player I do not have.

My main browser is Google chrome and I have the popup protection engaged. It is strange that they only show up when I go to read the posts and not when I go to forum mainpage.

I posted mainly to find out if others had this issue, thanks for replying.

Regards, John

My apology to all, after checking a bit more I have found that the problem is with my puter.

I do not have a problem with adds as such, just the nasty ones which are hard to get rid off.
