Here is my message which "has too many errors".

If that is what Paul Tillich says, then I agree . I like pantheism . However I do also look for god in the sense of man's aspiring to the Form of good, however inaccessible this Form may be to us Cave dwellers.

There are no errors that I can see.

Belinda, is this about moderation or someone's criticism of the post?

I've checked the moderation logs and the only post that was not approved by you was the thread requesting that a thread be unlocked, which I did (and thus that thread was no longer needed). The post above is obviously fine.

Hi Greta,I know only that I got an official-looking message in red above my intended post to say that it had too many errors according to the rules and so I couldn't post it. There was no reference to moderators as far as I can remember.
I'll try to post it again and see what happens. Sorry to give you extra moderator work, it's just that for all that it's a short post I did work on it.

Hello again. I just posted it.

Post a reply

"As is made clear throughout the forums, we require all posts to be proofread and spellchecked. Your post contains too many errors. Please see this post for more information. If you feel this message is in error, please contact Scott.
You must click on Preview before you can Submit"

This is the message(in red actually) that was above it and is still above it although this time it was accepted for posting . I thought that the Feedback section might be the best way to contact Scott, as it advised.

There are no errors that I can see.
Space after "agree" before sentence ending period.
Same in the next sentence.
God smaller case g.
Form capitalized.
Cave capitalized.

Form and Cave are not proper names so the parser may have thought they were new sentences without the previous ones getting closed.

These are errors a parser would pick up automatically. The red-lettered message was prompted by a computer parser check, not by a human being, since it came up so quickly. There were five typos or mistakes or errors, and as far as the computer parser was concerned, that was five too many. Therefore it flagged your post.

Thanks Renee and no apology needed, Belinda. It is rather odd when one considers posts on the forum that have seemingly more resembled hieroglyphics than prose.

Renee, I add my thanks to Greta's.

I agree, Greta, it struck me as odd for that reason too.Maybe it thought that I personally was usually so correct that the eccentricities were unintentional. I wonder what it would make of a stream of consciousness post in the style of James Joyce :)

I have so many submissions that were never posted because of some reasons mostly because it is out of topic. But I just let it go and still make posts whenever I feel like making one. I just keep my fingers crossed that it will get posted. So, you are not alone. Maybe everybody had this experience for some reason. The moderator has the final say. But I'm still very happy when I see and read my post. What I dread is the time might come that I cannot post anymore on this forum. God forbid. If it does I hope they will let me know the reason.

I can only imagine that the forum software has been tweaked.

I see the greatest danger in stream of consciousness posts is the same as for some philosophical academicians here - not being read due to not enough paragraphs.

Many still write for the web as if writing for print. I too remember the initial reluctance to break prose up in web writing into "simplistic" and "inelegant" short paragraphs, but the truth is that it is much harder to read complex material on a screen than on paper. It is for this reason, I expect, that every editor and lawyer I've known worked from hard copies.

I quite agree, Josefina. People who post here are most often sincere in their feelings as well as in their opinions. For that reason it's important that anybody who might get excluded for whatever reason is told why , in as gentle language as possible.

It's for that reason I'd never 'unfriend' anyone from my (deleted) Facebook account.

That's interesting. I had noticed that I find that happening with me when I read online, and had assumed it was my own laziness. Now you point out that general principle about literary style in particular media I can see that it's true especially regarding online discussions. Can the comfort of one's computer chair have anything to do with it? (she asked tentatively)
