How to Post YouTube Video?

I see this function available in toolbar (yid=) but it doesn't seem to work. However, I also see the wiki link (wiki=) doesn't seem to work either. Are there workarounds for these issues, am I simply not enabling them properly or is there a mod for the future?

This is what the code looks like if the square brackets are replaced with parentheses:

(yid=36GT2zI8lVA)(/yid)

Hmm, apparently you're able to view your video on Magnets but I'm not. I've tried Chrome, Firefox and Edge... nothing but the space in the page for it. I'm running Win10 Pro fully updated so not certain what the problem is? I've been on several other boards and haven't had this issue.

I tried Internet Explorer and for whatever reason the videos are shown in that browser. Must be some security setting getting in the way. Explorer doesn't have those issues :)

Not sure. I gave up IE many years ago due to security issues.

I don't use IE either which is why I'd like to resolve this. I've made numerous changes to test but nothing helps as of yet. I'm not able to get the wiki function working either.

The link is working for me so I'll forward this thread to the forum owner, Scott.

If I click on my wiki link to "creation myth" I get a 404. I do have antivirus (bitdefender,) malwarebytes and defender active so some security setting is preventing the way these links are formed from accessing outside the site. I have though disabled all of these to test with no result.

Thanks,

I must be going bonkers. Yes, I get a 404 too. Sorry.

Not sure how or if the wiki tag works. Usually I just use the URL tag (link icon) and paste in the full URL.

A 404 usually indicates the server receives the request but isn't able to process but I've also seen it where the problem is in the method of delivery. Anyway, all my attempts to utilize the embedded video function still fail so I'm at a loss here. On other boards I can successfully use the embedding function as [youtube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXyCRP871VI[/youtube] without issue so there seems to be something specific to this board that is the problem.

Hopefully the message will eventually lure Scott from his cave and he can come back to us, blinking into the sunlight, and work out what's going on :)

As I said, I'm able to view the videos in IE but what I've noticed is I also see the ads which I don't in Chrome or Firefox so it doesn't seem to be an setting other than that in those browsers. IE does request permission but I have chrome set to allow javascript and flash for the site.

The notification IE provides is "only secure content is displayed" then provides the option to "show all content." That seems to me to imply the call to YouTube is http:// and not https://...?
