OMG!!!
My poetic and artistic license has been revoked?!
Can I no longer capitalize the 'P' in Perspective? Or the 'U' in Universe? Or whenever I feel that communication is enhanced thereby?
I didn't spend more than half a century learning the language and how to express myself so some grammer nazi can jackboot all over a living thought and 'cleanse' it of all meaning...

"A word is not a crystal, transparent and unchanged; it is the skin of a living thought and may vary greatly in color and content according to the circumstances and time in which it is used." -Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.

I often spend hours crafting my posts and every capital letter or semi-quote is deliberate and well thought out.
There might be an occassional rare typo. Tough. I don't get paid for the time that I generously spend here.
-not capitalizing the word I
It is not an 'error', it is a choice (and sometimes sticky keys on the keyboard)!
Sometimes I do not. Usually in differentiation between an egoic 'I' and a non-egoic 'i'.

I share ur your distaste of text-messege and lazy (or 'creative'?) EnGliSh, but I'd rather hear some wonderful creative semi-literate spontaneously expressed thought, than some anally perfect rechewing of some already been chewed to death century old bumpersticker 'philosophy'!

I gotta tell you, for whatever it's worth, if I start getting harassed for my language (a new world requires a new language! Where do 'you' think that it should begin?!) or syntax or creativity, I will leave. Very simple.
Them's my fealings!

There is no difference between what nameless asks for and what Scott asks for . Both want to improve two way communications.I'm sure that Scott is not opposed to creativity with the written word.

As I said, we're not asking for absolute perfection. We are merely asking that members truly try to use correct spelling and grammar. All members must proof-read their posts before posting them. If you are not good at spelling and grammar, you must use a spell checker.

Stylistic choices (such as capitalizing a word for emphasis) made intentionally on posts that have been proof-read are not what I want to stop.

For an example of what I do not want, look at this question posted on a different website:
I can not get my mission & vision in life.what is the meaning of life?
all people who get their mission & vision in their life can ans this
Then look at these two answers:
chill man..y d hell u want 2 search such sucking things..just enjoy
what is life?yes good question.when you loose everything in life like wealth, love then you know the meaning of living.Everyone is born with a purpose, but we cannot see it.once you loose everything man made and sit and think alone then you will know how to start a new life,in exactly the way you were suppose to live but for that you have to have an open mind.get out of greed and you will find your reason to live.that's all i can tell you cause experience will teach you the rest.love yourself.
If it was my forum, I would want the spelling and grammar to be corrected in the first and third, and I would just delete the middle one.

Posts that are lazy, poorly written, unthoughtful and not proof-read will attract more posters who make posts of the same low quality while turning off posters who actually put a lot of effort into their posts, including proof reading them and making them understandable.

Anyway, if you proof read your posts and use a spelling and grammar checker, then these rules will not affect your posts.

[I split this discussion of the spelling and grammar rules from the thread explaining them and locked that thread. I will be directing new users to the rules, and I do not want them to be confused by debate.]
My entire political philosophy summed up in one tweet.

"The mind is a wonderful servant but a terrible master."

I believe spiritual freedom (a.k.a. self-discipline) manifests as bravery, confidence, grace, honesty, love, and inner peace.
