Actually, logic isn't really considered an area of philosophy anymore.mickalos wrote:Logic is a pretty big area of philosophy, I think deserving of its own section on the forums. It could also be incorporated with the philosophy of language and the philosophy of mathematics.

I agree that there is a philosophy of logic, but that's quite distinct from logic itself. For example, the philosophy of mathematics is not itself mathematics. The difference being that a 'philosophy of' is always a second-order inquiry, so the first-order inquiry is independent of it.Aleph_1 wrote:Logic may not be a part of philosophy, but the philosophy of logic is.
