A debate within philosophy of science is not the same as a debate within the parameters of some particular scientific rationale.I think that the current state of the debate within philosophy of science places Popper above Kuhn.Perhaps Kuhn is popularly misunderstood, and his theory should not have been applied to areas outwith science, such as morality and sociology.

Belinda- "A debate within philosophy of science is not the same as a debate within the parameters of some particular scientific rationale."
you are right, but it would remind people of the context.
if there are sections of interviews/one on ones and a contributors forum, why not make another section for philosophy of science: to critically analyze science.
seems rather unbalanced to start making a bunch of new individualistic forums, and not make any new forums for every one, for every one to participate it.

Politics and religion have their own subcategories due to the huge number of philosophy threads created that happen to be about religion and politics, which would overshadow non-religious, non-political philosophy topics if those did not have their own category.
Also, wouldn't the vast majority of 'philosophy of science' questions be 'metaphysics' questions?

A PHILOSOPHY of science forum, would necessarily be a place where that science was scrutinised within the eye of reason.wanabe wrote:yes belinda, but then you have people challenging every little thing. if put in the context of physical science, it would eliminate a lot of that.....but thats where i would put it for now also.
What you actually want (need) is just a science forum, immune from the clutches of philosophy.

It would be scrutinized with the eye of reason via physical evidence.

But that's what scientists do, not philosophers. Not unless they are materialists that aren't interested in any other viewpoint, anyway.wanabe wrote:It would be scrutinized with the eye of reason via physical evidence.
We seem to be having the same discussion in two threads. Probably better to focus it in the poll thread.
