Post numbers

Each post there is assigned a number. I think this would help to reference quotes quickly and specifically, with out posting links. A good tool to accompany page numbers I think.

Do you think it matters if in every thread the posts are labeled starting from one (i.e. 1, then 2, then 3 then 4, and so on). Or would it work to use the actual post numbers, which are uniform throughout the whole forum (i.e. this one is 27607 and the next post made regardless of what thread it is in will be 27608)?

I believe spiritual freedom (a.k.a. self-discipline) manifests as bravery, confidence, grace, honesty, love, and inner peace.

The problem is - especially in long threads - that refering to post '37333', for example, wouldn't give you much of a clue as to whereabouts within the thread that particular post was. Whereas, refering to post 11, for example, or post 88, should tell the reader what page to look on (if they are aware that there are 15 posts per page).Scott wrote:Do you think it matters if in every thread the posts are labeled starting from one (i.e. 1, then 2, then 3 then 4, and so on). The idea, I think, is to present the reader with a quick referencing tool, and so I think that wannabe's idea is the best.
