I picked what I considered to be the worst book.
A bit more research I could have picked the one with the most pages or most expensive to buy.
Still it's nice to see Stalinism isn't dead, it must have been two decades since the last Soviet style election.

I agree, free will is a topic that interests me a fair share. Then again, so does the "Many Worlds" book. Perhaps some other month.Laughing thinker wrote:I know, interesting isn't it? wouldn't it be amusing if one of those books was on Free Will?

Re: Split from: Vote for the July 2012 philosophy book of th
I'd rather eliminate the loop so that a person who hasn't voted is only redirected once after logging in to the vote page if and only if they haven't yet casted their vote, rather then getting stuck in a loop to vote. I started to do this after seeing the loop problem, but then I have the problem that I might accidentally redirecting people who already voted yet again so I decided to wait until this poll ends to do that.
Although, I'm not that bothered by having one month of compulsory voting to bring more attention to the book of the month system. I frequently am told my new members that the book of the month program is the reason they join, but that they are disappointed by its lack of activity. I will modify this vote reminder to be more user-friendly for next month, probably by adding an option to decline to vote and by not creating a loop at least not so early, i.e. one will be redirected to the vote once and then will be able to navigate away from the page without voting even for the 'non-vote' option namely in case they want to take some time to research the books before making a choice. In any case, I'm sorry for any inconvenience.
For those who would compare me to a draconian dictator such as the likes of Stalin, I think you are quite right. You will find if you come into my home I am co-boss (with my wife, which I guess makes her Lenin?) with an iron fist. I have strict laws like no smoking and uniform rules like taking your shoes off at the door. If you go on my bed uninvited or use the wrong bathroom, I might just slap you and if you are some deranged psychopath breaking down my door you might get the gas chamber. I run my circuits on my computer server with the same iron-fist. Facebook recently had an IPO too share ownership of their website, but I think the philosophy forums might not have the same market viability as Facebook. In all seriousness though, I don't see any hypocrisy in the way I run my home, computer or website and the fact that I of course wouldn't support an actual political dictatorship or anything remotely close like a national cigarette ban.
Again, I'm sorry for any inconvenience, and will use your feedback to handle next month's book of the month vote. I do appreciate your voluntary participation and contribution to my forums, and I do like suggestions on how to improve the forum. You can post your suggestions in the feedback section or you can PM them to me directly.

I have fixed the loop now so that after a user is redirected to the vote, they can navigate away from the poll without being immediately redirected back. One will only be redirected once per visit at most and thus only at the beginning of the visit and only if they have not yet voted in the poll.
