Re: Restrict posts to one page
Even if I wanted to limit post length as described, one technical issue would be that a screen size is relative. How much of a page appears on one person's screen is not the same on another person's screen. It's not only because their screens may be different sizes and/or have different ratios, but even exactly the same screen on the same model computer can have a different resolution setting, or use a different browser. Also, how much fits on the screen is affected by other user-defined settings like font-size, zoom and so forth.
Of course, I could easily restrict length by a more simple objective measure, like number of characters or lines.
However, I do not think I want to restrict post length as described to foster quick chat-like discussion rather than in-depth if on-topic discussion. If a post is rambling and mostly off-topic, then I want it reported and I will delete it regardless of its length. Well-written long posts are some of the best, in my opinion. These aren't chat rooms after all, and compared to the typical length of philosophical essays and books, posts are relatively short. It may be harder for the reader who wishes to skim read through the posts, but again I do not want to encourage this kind of skim reading. Indeed, I often read posts twice before responding, once to read the whole thing, and once again to write my reply while I re-read.

I believe spiritual freedom (a.k.a. self-discipline) manifests as bravery, confidence, grace, honesty, love, and inner peace.
