Re: Misquote Issues
For instance the following incorrect code:
Code: Select all
[quote="Joe"][quote="Jane"]I'm Jane. Blah blah blah[/qote]I'm Joe. Boo boo boo [/quote]
I'm someone else not named Joe or Jane. Bah bah bah
When, had it been written correctly as:Joe wrote:
I'm someone else not named Joe or Jane. Bah bah bah
Code: Select all
[quote="Joe"][quote="Jane"]I'm Jane. Blah blah blah[/quote]
I'm Joe. Boo boo boo [/quote]
I'm someone else not named Joe or Jane. Bah bah bah
I'm someone else not named Joe or Jane. Bah bah bahJoe wrote:
I'm Joe. Boo boo boo
***
Even without nested quote removal, the incorrectly written code would have displayed broken and made quoted text appear unquoted. There is not much I can do to solve parsing problems created by incorrectly written tags, in this case the missing close tag created by accidentally writing [/qote] when it is supposed to be [/quote]
.
Nonetheless, more to improve overall readability, I have modified the nested quote removal to make a notice. At the very least, this hopefully help one track down incorrectly written bbCode during the preview process. With this new change the incorrect bbcode example from above will display as:
At least this way one can more easily see what happened to cause the misquote: a missing close quote tag caused Joe's words to be attributed to someone else (and removed) leaving what the next person said in response to Joe as being part Joe's quote.Joe wrote: (Nested quote removed.)
I'm someone else not named Joe or Jane. Bah bah bah
