actually this might be a browser issue. I get different behaviours in other browsers and operating systems. The problem occured for me on Safari on Mac OS 10.6.8. Doesn't do the same thing using Firefox on Win 7.

there is definitely a bug with Mac OS and safari. Even when you're logged in, you hit SUBMIT, and it will ask you to log in again, and dump your text.
Tedious.

It is a problem with Safari 5.1.5 on Mac OS. You will be logged in, enter a reply, then hit SUBMIT, and you will return to the log-in screen, with all your text gone. Be warned.

I find it odd that Safari doesn't save your text, though. If something like that happens in Firefox or Chrome, I am able to just hit the back button and all my text is there just as I left it. Same thing if my computer crashes or I accidentally close the browser.
