Site Server or Bandwidth Issues?

Post by Spiral Out »

I've noticed that for much of the time I'm accessing this site that it takes a very long time for pages to load, even when all other sites I'm connecting to are loading at normal rates. Sometimes I cannot connect to this site at all. It seems to be happening more often.

Is anyone else having these connectivity issues?

Is the site's server(s) or IP provider having issues?

Yes, I have noticed this too. I will investigate this and see. I will create and run some monitoring programs to try to identify the highest usage files and database calls on my server. I will also monitor some other possible culprits like the email server. If I cannot find any leaks or make any significant reductions in cpu/memory use, I will upgrade the server. Please allow me a couple weeks to sort this out. Please keep me updated on how often it is slow for you. If it is inaccessible, you can also note the time.
My entire political philosophy summed up in one tweet.

I believe spiritual freedom (a.k.a. self-discipline) manifests as bravery, confidence, grace, honesty, love, and inner peace.

Thanks Scott. It was occurring as I was posting that message. It cleared up about 20 minutes after. I'll post updates of future occurrences.

Pages are currently loading slower than usual (Forum Home) with pages not loading completely and having to be reloaded (View your posts). - 6:05 AM

Just after posting the previous message, a page in one of the forums would not load more than a few posts and then locked up. I checked with three other sites and they are loading at normal rates. - 6:08 AM

This morning between 5:45 and 6:05 pages were loading extremely slowly and due to a page lockup I lost all of my text when trying to post a reply. Because this has happened before on more than a few occasions, and where I lost a couple of lengthy posts, I "command+A" then "command+C" all of my replies so I can just paste them back in when this happens.

The problem seems to have passes as of right now (6:13am EST) since after that lockup the pages are now loading at a normal rate.

Lately, the site's pages have been loading at normal rates. I haven't been experiencing any of the lockups, lost posts or slow loads. I'm not sure if you made any changes Scott, but it seems to be working a lot better recently.

Occasionally, I still get the misattributed credit of authorship to some of the quotes that I am replying to.

Recently (a lot today) I have encountered frequent errors, most of them are "404 error- page not found" but some are claiming that the address doesn't even exist! Is this just me or are others experiencing similar problems?
