Well, if he follows (being a rather old man) this trope
(and it is possible, because description says vaguely something about "studies of the isolation experienced by many internet users") than the book is of no good and he doesn't know what he talks about. If people experience isolation or other negative feelings and share them with others while using internet it is because they were already dysfunctional when they begun using it. Emotions are in your body, not in "internet".
