Larkspur - An Introduction
My name is Rod. I'm 26, and I have a thirst for intellectual conversation this forum seems ideally suited to slake.
I consider myself to be a stoic syncretist with an ethical tendency towards benevolent consequentialism. That is to say: I choose these labels not because they are 100% accurate but because they are the closest fit. I also believe I have a strong foundation in logic, and indeed enjoy math, physics, and programming as hobbies. I know that I want to develop my concept of self further, and have found no better way to accomplish this than to have my preconceptions challenged.
Having read several threads here, I'm quite excited to have found an internet community not flooded by pointless attacks on the presenter of an idea, but rather full of thoughtful criticism of the idea itself.
A final point I feel worth note: I devote significant thought to the phrasing of what I mean. In other words, how it is said is just as important as what is said. One of my shortcomings is to assume that others do the same, and as a result may divulge in semantics; feel free to call me out if it is not constructive to the discussion.
I'm excited to join this community, and I hope you help me think outside my box, as much as I hope to return the favor!
