What do most muslims believe happen to christians & jews when they die? Technically speaking the most fundamental principle, "to believe in the existence of one god" is obeyed by all three parties, or is there more too it than that?

I think it depends a lot on the specific Muslim or sect of Muslims. The same goes for any other major religion. For instance, some Christians actually believe in a literal hell where people somehow still exist as individuals after their bodies are destroyed to suffer forever at the hands of some singular sadistic omnipresent, unbelievably powerful god. Other Christians of course do not.

Very intuitive, SS: there IS more to it than that.

As you mentioned in that other thread about hell, I can disbelieve about one God and monotheism and yet still be Love-Compassionate.

So it is no good enough to believe in the existence of one God NOR is it bad enough to disbelieve in monotheism.

What is needed--what more is needed--is Love for no God and polytheism and God and God's opposite IF you believe in God, AND Love for the existence of God and monotheism IF you believe in God's adversary and in the non-existence of God.

Example:
Demons believe in one God but HATE God!
So any monotheists who believe in one God but hate God's nonexistence and the atheists who disbelieve in there being any God are just as bad and worse than than those who believe in God but hate him!
See?
So any atheist who also loves who he does not believe in is a better monotheist as an atheist than monetheists who hate polytheists and atheists!

You can work out the other permutations and combinations and see that more than believing in one God is Love for who you believe in AND Love for who you don't believe in.
Qed.
Then, in that Love, we can like James Bond, believe and let believe!Smile

To ape,

Ok so, it is your belief that all one "need" do in pretty much any religion is very very simple. Just stop hating stuff. I do agree to some extent, as, in my experiance, hatred is invariably a waste of everyones time.

Hatred is considered the main trait of devotion in some religions. Consider Westboro Baptist Church which is known for the public display of slogans like, "God Hates Fags," "Thank God for Dead Soldiers," and America is doomed. Or consider the many people who actually support murder in the name of god(s).

Some loving people interpret their religious texts as encouraging philanthropy, kindness and non-violence. But some religious people and some religions do the opposite. It can depend on the religion, on the sect, on the specific religious group and even on the person.
