Restricting Religious Response to a Thread?
I'm new and have been searching the site and reading various threads.
I notice that many threads seem to jump quickly to religious discussions of God.
I've read the forum rules but don't know what the etiquette would be of the following:
Can I ask that a thread not contain discussion of religious topics? Or is that considered rude and out of bounds?

I'd suggest a good and thorough reading of the site rules. According to my understanding of them, you can request your proposed restriction, but you can't enforce it. So anyone can ignore your request and that'll be that.TimTimothy wrote:Hi...

Don't worry about being rude. Worry about keeping to the site rules.
Or maybe you are asking not the legality but the behavioural correctness of issuing such a request. Something like asking Miss Manners whether this would be acceptable in the court of the British Monarch, for instance. I am not an etiquette expert. I can't advise you on that.
Or maybe you are looking for moral guidance? Yes, your request is not immoral. It can coexist with individual, societal and religious ethics.

As mentioned, I did read the site rules. The site rules themselves make frequent reference to "rude" and/or "insulting" behavior, which leads me to believe that there's an ethical code here on this forum. So I was curious to get feedback on the specifics of my question so as to better understand the culture of this discussion board.Don't worry about being rude. Worry about keeping to the site rules.
