Scott, you are open to suggests and often responsive to our request, and now I wonder what are you trying to accomplish, what are your goals for the forum? Knowing what you want should perhaps come before saying what we want? and it would nice if I had the patients to wait for an answer, but I don't.

I often come to forums because I google something and google leads me to a forum, so if a goal is to increase readers and members, we need a better understanding of how to get google's attention.

The last thread I was reading, got into a discussion about our lack of knowledge of eastern philosophy, and at least one person was very informed on the subject, but that was not the thread for discussing eastern verses western philosophy. However, it got me to thinking, that we really do need to correct the problem of our ignor- ance of eastern philosophy. Posting to the present forums is unlikely to resolve the problem. It is very hard to keep a thread going when no one is familiar with the subject, and I fear efforts to discuss eastern philosophy will be lost in the flood of post about things more familiar to us. The solution may be a category just for eastern philosophy, beginning with an explanation of the difference between eastern and western philosophy stuck at the top.

I seriously wish this forum were more attractive to those interested in history and those interested in science. People who do have these interest, do not discuss the things that interest me the most. For me this is distracting to the whole forum, and leads to me looking elsewhere for the discussions I want. It might not work at all, but I would like to see forums titled Philosophy and History, {edit- Whoops you already have philosophy of science, I should look more carefully before asking for what I want.} Of course all things are related, but without separation and distinction, we don't see the sand castle in the sand, so we don't talk about it.

If someone can write a good original "explanation of the difference between eastern and western philosophy" for me than I will gladly create a new forum category for eastern philosophy.

May be this should be a group effort. I will start a thread for that purpose. Eastern and western philosophy are opposites on so many things, that will not be an easy task. However, it will be a very beneficial task.
