Dissertation on the afterlife

Post Number:#1  PostApril 24th, 2012, 9:56 am

Hello,

I'm new to this and I need help because I am doing a dissertation on the afterlife and really need to narrow my theme and get a title.

I am aiming to look at our existance in the afterlife and link it with mediums contacting the dead and Jesus and His ressurection.

I would be grateful for some help as I really want to do well because I need to pull my grade up.

Hello Nic.

You start out with a number of assumptions, 1, that there is an afterlife, 2, that mediums can contact the dead and, that Jesus was resurrected, while there is no proof for any of these. If this project is educational all that can be said with any reliability is that when we die it is end of story.

Shoe, that’s what popped into my head also and why I assume his project must be sponsored by religious institution

Hi Dale.

I think he might be better off to go to a religious site if he wants some help.

Yes and no, such help might prove very one-sided

Hi Dale.

Agreed, but if it is an religious institution, that is what is wanted.
These places are not concerned with truth, only that which supports their mantra!

I suppose that might depend somewhat on the institution

Of course they would disagree and according to the general observation that nothing is entirely anything while everything is partly something else, they might have a point now and again. For instance many of us intuiitively assert there must be something more to the Universe than the meaningless and random bojncing of objects off one another while the entire Megillah seems pointless without us; and the constants do seem to have been adjusted—with in fraction of one percent in some cases—specifically to allow the evolution of life

..just Intuition

Regards, John.
Best of wishes, Dale.

Thank you for your replies regarding my query. My studies isn't for a religious institution instead it is for my honours degree. I need to concentrate my topic as it is extremely open ended and my essay has a low word limit of 10,000.

Many thanks

I do believe there is a spiritual world out there, but I have not been able to work out how to communicate with it precisely and reliably. Some times prayers seem to work, sometimes lying seems to work even better :P
Do whatever you do, do what a good man would do, and what is a good man?, I do not know, but at every point, every turn, do what a good man would do.

Well Berm the apodisitical existential pantheist cites prayer as an example of God talking to herself and that’s perhaps why lying doesn’t work quite so well

Hi Dale,

I could not find apodisitical.

I am being very serious, I thank God every often, have good conversations with God, tell God "look this is what we need", but I do all the work. Sometimes if it were up to me, I would have chosen a different path, but that was blocked, and then on hindsight I think to myself, "I am glad I never took that path". So who had the foresight to block for me, as otherwise had I followed that path I would have crashed. So I thank God again. But also part of it is lying.

Pray, which part

(Forgive pun)
