Indian Saints

Post by Jsingh »

Hi All,

I would like to learn more about the indian saints and from a indian philosphical perpespective why such individuals come into our lives, being more specific, for example it is a common understanding that all beings come into this life through Krishna/Ram and I would like to learn more about the reasons from an indian perpective. why do such individuals come about? but not through the common texts from Hinduism, Sikhism and Buddhism (Ramayan, Gita, Grant Sahib, Vedas and common classical Buddhists text).
Why do such individuals come about?
What is their purpose?
From Krishna`s/Ram`s perspective why does he bring these indviduals to us?
Are they brought here to teach us something or is that for example in modern society with such high knowledgable people with PHD`s, proffessors etc such people would find it insulting, inimidating to learn from such an individual and as such such beings are brought here to teach but to be exploited for our personal benefit of material gain, plenty and way of life etc?

I thank you in advance for your replies to my question

Have you looked around and read some posts here? It seems you might be in the wrong forum.

Skyblack may be right unless someone here has unexpected knowledge about Indian traditions.

Speaking as one know knows very little about them, I'm thinking that, with millions of people in the world back then, and billions of them today, we can expect a small percentage be unusually tuned into the nature of reality, treating abstractions and symbolism as tools with which we can better understand reality, not as actual reality. One would expect the opposite to occur as well.

Humans have always sought to pass on their learning to the next generation. Logically, the lessons each person can pass on will vary from potent life lessons to outright bad advice. Further, some people pass on life lessons, others pass on existential perspectives while others teach concrete information. We call these people gurus, philosophers and scientists respectively, but they are ultimately all just humans passing information on, as we do.

Jsingh, I'm not sure there are too many members with knowledge of this area. As far as I know this is the first thread concerning Indian saints.

There's a thread on karma: https://www.onlinephilosophyclub.com/fo ... =1&t=16833

There's a deep thread on existentialism: https://www.onlinephilosophyclub.com/fo ... =6&t=16645

But I simply don't know. Maybe the forum owner, Scott will have some ideas.

It seems you are confused with the forums and the threads.

It looks like no one else is going to post on your threads so let's do this, why don't you clarify what your question is and i will try to answer it from the little i know about Indian philosophy.
