So your creative endeavors aren't sufficient for you to make a living with. How do you make a living instead? And wouldn't you have rather made a living with your creative work? Everyone I know who does some sort of arts/entertainment stuff prefers, or at least would prefer, to make a living with that rather than having to do something else and only have to do their creative stuff as a hobby (that they try to find time for when they're not working, when they're not doing stuff with family, etc.)Asif wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2021, 9:55 amLol! I make a living with my creative endeavors.Asif wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2021, 10:32 amI'm.afraid your nosey prodding and poking into my lifestyle won't work. Too many assumptions and cliches. What makes you think I will divulge my lifestyle in detail to an authoritarian sophist hippy like yourself? Suffice to say I'm very happy, and getting happier.Terrapin Station wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2021, 10:01 amSo your creative endeavors aren't sufficient for you to make a living with. It's not because I say so. It's because I receive money for that stuff that I do, which is usually considered creative stuff.Asif wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2021, 11:25 amIf you say so.Terrapin Station wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2021, 10:40 amI make a living with my creative endeavors.Asif wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2021, 10:32 amI'm.afraid your nosey prodding and poking into my lifestyle won't work. Whether something is usually considered x is determined by usage obviously. And then whether you make money/make a living doing some activity is obviously "determined by the market." That's how such things work.Asif wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2021, 11:29 amYour track record is that of a sophist. By the way, the sophists were unjustly criticized by Plato, whose own philosophy was at least as misguided as anyone he was criticizing.

Yes,plato was a sophist. As are the vast majority of famous philosophers. Because they were political propagandists. Hence my thread!Terrapin Station wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2021, 11:41 amWhether something is usually considered x is determined by usage obviously. Plato is solely the reason that "sophist" has a negative connotation. So if you're buying into that, you're following Plato's views, whether you're doing to inadvertently or not.Asif wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2021, 11:59 amYes,plato was a sophist.
