By what the word philosopher means, every body is one since every body loves to be wise..with most not knowing that how to be wise is in Love of fools, since the first thing a wise man knows is that he is a fool.
Certainly in the Socratic view, not everyone loves to be wise, nor everyone be a philosophers. Most seek eros. Only the few philosophers seek wisdom and reason that transcends the love some have for that which they know rather than that which is truly worthy of loving (the Socratic view, not my own).
It works out to the same thing when you love opposites and see that opposites are composites.
Composites? I'm not sure exactly what you mean.
So how can you rule without philosophy when at the same time you have a philosophy that no philosophy rules? lol
Aha. Here is how I should defend Socrates. Opinions held by philosophers are not themselves philosophy, it is the questions that are. Yes that is an opinion in of itself (perhaps Socrates might disagree), and hence it would seem the practice of philosophy is rather un-philosophic, as it holds opinions as to how philosophy should be practiced.
Was some sentence-ending word omitted?
Yes, I apologize.

The opinions reached through philosophy are not themselves philosophy.

Once you have asked this question, you are considered to be a philosopher.

Yes, unfortunately I am a philosopher. It started with questions of the existence of god, and lead to questions of my own existence without a god. Sadly I can’t help but feel I would be happier if I believe in god (or any religion for that fact), but unfortunately this is not longer possible. The only option I can see to avoid nihilism is a big Nietzsche’s “Yes” to life. But this requires unflinching strength which is difficult to maintain indefinitely. Honest philosophy is the pursuit of the young, we older philosopher must lie a little for in the end we know a little white lie never hurt anybody.

Philosophy is a sound.
Philosophy must be sound.
Philosophy is a life-style.

Philosophers must be real.
Philosophers must be fame.
Philosophers must be truth.

Philosophy is my lips.
Philosophy is my jobs.
Philosophy is my life.

Philosopher is not a name, but honor.
I have the youngest one.

This is a philosophy forum, who here wouldn't consider themselves some version of a philosopher? It's such a lose idea. It's not like asking who here is an CPA or a lawyer or a an author. As long as you can think and like to do it, sure you're a philosopher why not. The only question is what kind of philosopher are you.

i agree with the statement that all are philosophers, it just depends upon what type you are. For example, i place just as much value upon Marcus Aurelius's Meditations, as i do George Carlin's Brain Droppings. Both, in my mind, are philosophers, just in their own groups.

As for me, i try to take on every aspect of philosophy, and as this being an impossible task, it further backs up the idea of philosophy itself.

I consider my self a philosopher in the most basic sense. Although I usually prefer philosopher enthusiastic. Most people call me a deep thinker, although do usually seem to consider me a philosopher if I discuss it. (Being a high school freshman, most of us don't know to much about philosophy voluntarily).

I am.

How can an individual answer this question without asking another question?

That to me would define a philosopher better than any statement.

Do i consider myself a philosopher?

Perhaps not.

I make no claim to be such; I am merely seeking knowledge and greater understanding of what i don't understand or know.(which is a great deal i'm afraid)

Being an academic philosopher usually includes being able to a significant extent being able to do critical thinking.Even primary school children can be capable of critical thought but unfortunately, as it seems to me, the man in the street who reads nothing but the Daily Mail or listens to nothing but Fox News is not one who does critical thinking.

What is critical thinking? What are the rules for argumentation? Both are something that requires education in the doing, and not I adequately educated, for critical thinking and argumentation.

I lack the discipline or motivation to fully study any philosopher, and haven't come close to studying all the philosophies. I just know the more modern a philosopher is, the less interesting he is to me. I also think the whole of philosophy is lacking female input, I wish I had the motivation to do something about this.

Philosophy is a love of knowledge, and I do count myself as among those who love knowledge. But technologically, I lack the skill and knowledge of a philosopher.

i have no idea!i just ask a lot of questions and try find an answer to them but i hardly come across an answer i just draw to some kind of conclusion...and because it still bothers me that there are no answers i ask my friends and they say i think too much...and although it inspires misery i like finding logical conclusions to better understand some things
