The greatest weapon in the history of mankind. Cloaked in plain site
*FACEBOOK purchases the oculus platform
*Quest 2 release start of covid
Freestanding operating system no need to plug in.
*Also as we know Amazon went and remains off the rails
*We as humans on some level or another enjoy being pampered and, made to feel that all is ok. We are nice and safe at home food and all the usless crap that makes us feel better about our existence.
Would it be too bold to speculate that the surge in technological advancement also gave birth to the perfect storm in whutch we are truly turned in to batteries.

I look at it this way: the mitochondria that power our cells emerged about 1½ billion years ago. It's believed that a bacterium was engulfed by an archaea, probably as a parasite but, while the bacteria (ie. the organisms that would evolve into mitochondria) stole the archean's food, its excreta turned out to be much better food for the cell than otherwise, and the arrangement stuck. The archaea was now better fed and the mitochondria was safe living in a more robust organism. Now, almost every biology textbook will include the phrase "mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell".
Humans, like the original protobacteria, are still capable of moving around freely. However, as populations rise, and pollution, temperature and other dangers increase, people are more likely to stay in their home (cell). Homes, while dependent on society, are increasingly capable of meeting most needs, with internet, water, power, deliveries of goods and services and far better entertainment systems than in the past.
Societies will continue to be collections of buildings and other structures, connected by transport arteries. These structures would not do anything if not for humans. It is human needs - their motivation - that powers these "cells". That makes us like informational batteries rather than thermochemical batteries (as in The Matrix), powering our increasingly intelligent "cells" with motivation rather than ATP.
Whatever, we little people are being objectified, mere numbers. I expect that the masses will be sorted into similar categories to those currently applying to animals. That is, potential resources to be used, vermin to be eliminated or unimportant entities that can be ignored.
