Exciting News: My new book is the #1 New Release on Amazon in Philosophy

Use this philosophy forum to discuss and debate general philosophy topics that don't fit into one of the other categories.

This forum is NOT for factual, informational or scientific questions about philosophy (e.g. "What year was Socrates born?"). Those kind of questions can be asked in the off-topic section.

Exciting News: My new book is the #1 New Release on Amazon in Philosophy

Post by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes »

For those who don't know, I'm the creator of OnlinePhilosophyClub.com and these Philosophy Forums. :)

My new book In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All is now an official "Best Seller" on Amazon and their #1 New Release in the Philosophy Category.

Here is what reviewers are saying:
  • "One of the best philosophy books I have ever read."
    - Melissa Jane | Read Melissa's Full Review

"This book has a profound message, and Hughes breaks it down piece by piece."
    - Brenda Creech | Read Brenda's Full Review

"The author's positive and encouraging attitude inspired me to accept myself with all of my flaws and move forward more positively. There was nothing that I disliked about the book."
    - Theresa Moffitt | Read Theresa's Full Review

"A thought-provoking, non-fiction book demonstrating how everyone is united... Tears the reader apart and puts them back together again to have a happier life with more spiritual freedom."
    - Bertha Jackson | Read Bertha's Full Review

I have just now scheduled the book to be the Philosophy Book of the Month in November. I look forward to discussing it chapter by chapter, and perhaps point by point, with all of you! :D

If you prefer hardcover, I recommend you buy the hardcover version from Barnes and Noble because Amazon seems to be jacking up the price for the hardcover due to the high demand and scarcity. (It's a limited first edition.)

Of course, you can also just grab the Kindle copy for only $3. You do not need a Kindle to read it. You can read the Kindle version on any smartphone, tablet or computer.

My entire political philosophy summed up in one tweet.

"The mind is a wonderful servant but a terrible master."

I believe spiritual freedom (a.k.a. self-discipline) manifests as bravery, confidence, grace, honesty, love, and inner peace.

Thank you for the opportunity. I am looking forward to discuss every bit of the book. 👍👍

Hi Scott.
Thanks for the email announcing your book and your associated excitement.
I apologise if I don’t express the same enthusiasm. News isn’t something I respond to emotionally. Especially other peoples relevant news.
“Oh, really?” Is my standard response when my wife announces her news to me. Another birth on the planet, or death, a near collision on her way to the gym (where she gathers the news of others), a rise in fuel prices followed by an instantaneous escalation of inflation rate, poverty, homelessness, and the price of tea in China.
None of this news bothers or interests me beyond a curiosity in the weirdness of humans.
Which places me right here.
Did I join your forum? I note it was 2016 when I last lifted a finger to write here. I don’t recall any of it.
“Did I do that?” Is the thought bubble above me, a common notification in my somewhat senile years.

I’ve often thought of writing a book.
“You should write a book,” I hear my wife say. She’s kidding, of course. She’s just trying to shut me up.
The first thing I’d write is the ending. We all know how it ends, don’t we.
Then I’d talk about the preparations I’ve made to accept the end when it comes.
The difficulty with that is that I don’t know when. Having a dicky heart and a propensity to place myself in risky situations where some part of me may fail or the laws of nature will have their way. I bear the scars of many a misfortune and near misses.
The Greeks had a god to blame for all that: Fortuna. What a bitch she is. Just when I think I have it set, she rolled the dice or whatever she uses to make her choices, and I finish up running traffic in an ambulance or explaining an embarrassing moment to the family and friends.
Philosophy helps me survive and prepare. Most importantly, no amount of philosophy will save me from the inevitable. Nor will it prevent me from making a fool of myself, suffering the loss of dignity or pleasing my wife. No matter how much striving and conniving there will always be the unexpected: a note fro you about a book, for example.

How I have grown accustomed to the unexpected. And how I demonstrate my displeasure and joy at its arrival. Why, only today did I curse and abuse my sock for displaying a hole at its heal just as I was being hurried by my wife (I should call her Christine, for that is what she calls herself and I know her as) to get in the car so we could yet again attend a family function I was trying to avoid.

I read with some amusement at the questions asked in the forums. I might bog in for a discussion now that I’ve been reminded.
After all, it’s easier that writing a book, don’t you think, Scott?

Hey Scott, kudos to you.

It'll be interesting to have the author participate in a B of the M club discussion.

When I selected the Amazon link, I got a screen saying that a Dangerous Website Has Been Blocked.
