Quantum Biology: are there new opprtuinities?
Just a query more than anything. Are there any philosopher's schooled in this? As a kind of precursor, we know about quantum information systems including encoded information loss/stored/entropy (see Hawking's information paradox where information may/may not cease to be visible and completely disappear) relative to black holes... . But what kind of impacts can philosophy have over this relatively new discovery in science?
Are there any logical implications to possible explanations of consciousness? For instance, quantum tunneling seems to be some kind of physical/metaphysical phenomenon that, at least from a philosophical view, may have some intriguing implications...not to mention Wheeler's PAP, double slits, and the like... . In any event, the combining of the two seemingly different domain's (physics/QM and biology) may yield some fruitful gains.
Please share your thoughts if you can!

Years ago, in University, I studied Schrödinger's wave equation, which is a true monstrosity. But what it does is to predict the likelihood of a particle tunnelling through an apparently impervious barrier. It may be non-intuitive, but it ain't metaphysical, as far as I can understand.3017Metaphysician wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2021, 12:39 pm For instance, quantum tunneling seems to be some kind of physical/metaphysical phenomenon...
QM is a difficult subject for those whose understanding of it is ... incomplete. And, as my favourite scientist said:

I checked out your link and also found this:
Imagine throwing a ball at a wall and having it disappear the instant before it makes contact and appear on the other side. The wall remains intact; the ball did not break through it. Believe it or not, there is a finite (if extremely small) probability that this event would occur. This phenomenon is called quantum tunneling.
It was part of your Schrödinger equation... https://phys.libretexts.org/Courses/Pri ... ry%20space.
Consciousness (biological creatures), and other emergent or genetically coded properties of existing things makes me think of Wheelers PAP and the need for an observer...yet Quantum tunneling seems to have a mind of its own...an independent existence of sorts...

Here are some fabulous spin-offs from the idea of Quantum Biology, and real world 'humanistic' and existential implications (the human condition) of 'propagational' systems, enjoy!

Re: Quantum Biology: are there new opprtuinities?
1. Is Morphogenetic Fields (Morphic Resonance) behave similar to quantum tunneling and double slits (PAP)?
2. Is Morphogenetic Fields in biology similar to the Higgs field in physics (the proof of an invisible field that gives mass to all matter right after the BB which forces particles to coalesce into stars, planets, and everything else)?
3. Does Genetics itself become subordinate to Morphic Resonance somehow, or are they both needed as a complete theory to biological emergence?
4. Is Process Philosophy (or process theology) similar to the theories of the Morphic Resonance model where there is both a fixed cause (determinism) to all living matter through genetically coded information, yet an open system that allows for random mutations/creativity in nature (uncertainty in Quantum physics)?
5. As discussed in Metaphysics, is the World as Will (Schop.) another philosophical theory that posits an analogous invisible energy (metaphysical) field that somehow 'breaths fire into the equations' ala Stephen Hawking?
